What Do the GST Collections October 2026 Numbers Tell Us?

  • Growth in gross collections (22.9%) was much faster than the year-to-date growth (13.2%), so October was a high month relative to the trend.
  • Import-related revenue grew 42.2%, far faster than domestic revenue at 15.8%, and contributed a large share of the overall increase.
  • Net revenue grew faster than gross revenue because refunds grew only 6.5%.
  • The comparison base matters: October 2025 collections came after the GST rate changes of September 2025, so year-on-year figures should be read with that in mind.

Note that monthly collections can be affected by the timing of festivals, import activity, refunds and the date of filing, so a single month is not a trend by itself.
